MIRA: THE GESTOGRAPH & EPHEMERALS INSTALLATIONS [BE]

XIAO HE / MATTHIEU HA [CN / FR]
Romantic mysticism
Xiao He and Matthieu Ha - prolific musicians evolving respectively in the Chinese and European underground scene - met each other in 2007 at Nova Cinema in Brussels, during an improvised soundtrack for the famous Chinese silent movie The Goddess. Since then, their paths have continued to cross both in Europe and in China; however, they have never had an opportunity to join their creative frenzy and produce a unique, common oeuvre corresponding to their artistic best of spirituality and avant-garde. Xiao He continues to explore new territories. His creations seem in perpetual motion. Escaping any classification, he remains a pivotal reference for any fan of the Beijing indie scene. How could anyone stay insensible to Matthieu Ha’s world, his counter-alto voice, and bewitching melancholies of his faithful accordion? His participation in the X NIGHTS festival alongside Xiao He - his “dream brother” as Matthieu Ha likes to call the Chinese artist - is undeniably part of this philosophical-artistic perspective. 90min performance.

MAMER [CN]
Post-industrial shamanism
Mamer is the frontman of the famous band IZ, one of the first Chinese bands to be invited to the biggest European world music festivals. In 2008, he recorded the album Eagle on Peter Gabriel's Real World label and released it under his own name as a tribute to this peerless musician. 90min performance.

MIRA: THE GESTOGRAPH & EPHEMERALS INSTALLATIONS [BE]
Body calligraphy, cinema and other photographic recycled wastes
Born in Paris in 1971, Fred Chemama aka Mira lives and works in Brussels, at the Mommen workshops. Inspired by corporal action, he proves keen to mix ancient photographic techniques, early filming styles and new media potential.
1.1. The Gestograph. Through numerous experimentations, he has developed a digital gestograph - an interactive real-time video installation inspired by JE Marey’s chronophotography. Interacting with the installation, the audience feeds it with live gestures and body movements associated with words, which are captured by a video camera.
2.2. 2. Ephemeral installations. Also as part of the X NIGHTS festival, in parallel with the gestograph and cyclo-kino, the artist will propose ephemeral, degradable, multi-coloured installations of souvenir photos waste.
