Event Description

A Caustic Trio Christophe Lier (piano, France) Born in Paris, Lier studied piano jazz with one of the finest jazz masters in France, Michel Sardaby. He moved to Hong Kong in 1994 where he played a leading role in the city jazz life. Lier’s Jazz trio was scheduled during 5 years at the famous Hong Kong jazz club. He performed as well at the HK Art center Blues festival (1997) and the “Jazz to kill” festival (1998), touring twice in Taiwan with jazz legend, saxophonist Hal Singer (1998,1999) and taking part in the Henessy XO Jazz tour (Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan) and the Juan-Les-Pins (France) jazz festival (2002) with Hal Singer. After returning to France, Lier plays both with his organ trio and piano trio, at the festival “Jazz in Marciac” (2009, 2010) and the Vannes jazz festival. Peter Scherr (double bass, US) He has over 20 years professional experience ranging from positions with symphony orchestras through jazz and experimental music performance and composition. Mr. Scherr has performed and recorded with leading creative musicians such as his brother Tony Scherr, Jenny Scheinman, Jim Black, Briggan Krauss, Allison Miller, Joe Rosenberg, Matt McMahon, Simon Barker and many others. Mr. Scherr pursues musical excellence and inspiration in areas of unique interest. His current focus is the realization of creative music concepts. One of his long-term goals is the establishment of a common practice of creative music in China, drawing on the talent of the most interesting improvisers from around the world. V.A Live !!!
