Today, I headed to the subway for a meeting, and near the station a guy who was riding a scooter apparently got hit by a bus. The police had arrived and were questioning the driver. HOWEVER, the victim was still lying in the street motionless.
Of course, I was thinking "Um... someone get this guy an ambulence, or what?" I even said it out loud in Chinese, hoping the cops would overhear me.
Even if he's DEAD, you don't leave him there in the street for every passerby to stare at (like I was).
My meeting got cancelled, so 20 minutes later, I came back out of the same subway station. The cops were still there talking to the driver, and the victim (corpse?) had been moved to the curb, yet still lying there motionless.
Talk to the bus driver all you want, but shouldn't the first priority be getting the victim some medical attention or at least off the street? I don't care if he's a penniless migrant. The bus company (public, owned by government) can pay for any hospital or morgue bills -- even if it was the victim's fault.
PIC!
