Hahahahaha ... another piece of rubbish from BBC online ...

It is just an unfair and stupid statistics, due to bad sampling ... not that non IT literate people have low IQ, but this group mainly use what they are given, and Windows PC is often the computer of choice, hence IE is the only thing they use ... there are of course non IT literate people using Mac or Mac Book, hence for them, Safari is perhaps the only thing they use ...

... it is like, as a silly comparison, that silly people drives automatic instead of manual (or stick shift), that's because it is easier, but it does not mean that such people are silly ... nor the ones driving manual are not silly ... right?

IE--especially old IE--sucks ass and people who use it should be put to sleep, along with lazy web designers who develop for it exclusively because of its uncanny ability to render poorly-coded HTML into something coherent. IE users are an impediment to human progress and we should not make excuses for people who passively accept inferior technology just because it is popular.

It's a lot easier and cheaper to change browsers than it is to change car transmissions, @DD. The alternatives are free, more secure, and have a similar interface.

That said, IQ is the statistic most likely to be abused by journalists and other non-scientists. It's not a very reliable indicator of intelligence, being merely a aggregate comparison to other members of a population rather than a true measurement. The average IQ of humanity is always 100. The average person is a fucking sheep, though.
