    Guess what, 10,000 Yuan!

A college student in China who said his studies suffered after he discovered Internet porn has been awarded 10,000 yuan (1,466 dollars) for helping the government crack down on sexual content online.

The unidentified student at an unnamed college in northern Shanxi province reported 32 websites that contained pornography, winning a nationwide contest that has encouraged web-surfers to hunt down porn, state media said Monday.

"In the past, when I was in middle school, I used to get grades that were good enough to enter a really good university," the Beijing News quoted the young man as saying.

"It is because of the influence of pornography on the Internet that I was only able to go to junior college," said the student.

Officials(note by Emily: the Anti-pornography Office, or known as the "Sao Huang Da Fei/Sweep-up-the-Dirty-and-Beat-down-the-Improper Office" have offered rewards to Internet users who report pornographic websites.

In the first month of the effort, nearly 62,000 websites were reported, the paper said -- an indication that a hefty number of web users were on the lookout for porn.

The winning student's porn-spotting ability had also won him monetary awards from local Internet censors in the cities of Beijing and Tianjin, as well as Hebei and Hainan provinces, it added.

So anyone who wants to make some easy money, call the national hotline of the SHDF Office at: 12390 or 010-65212870 or 010-65212787, or visit www.shdf.gov.cn

This might sound a little ungraceful... But hey! 10,000 yuan!

P.S. I'm not sure if I'm violating the rule #2 "Do not discuss sensitive issues related to this country". I simply think this is funny. But if I somehow did violate it, Pete feel free to delete this thread any time you want! =)

Also will be a great idea offer the same reward for all these shit bosses that not follow the laws of China, don´t paying more in holydays and don´t giving two free days per week or also cheating for not pay the basic salary.
Really, These are the kind of people that harm China with their ilegal actions, more than the porn sites.

That 's a different subject, our government actually hunt those people down and throw them into the worst jails that u probably couldn't even imagine~There are many cops and undercovers working on this everyday everywhere in China~~But it is very very difficult, whenever there's demand, there will be supply~~~so I think we do have a long way to go~~~

@ Candy Q. don´t take a defensive position, is not a agressive comment. I know that the police here do very well his job, but is real that you easily can find web pages of prostitutes, try and put escort beijing, and see.
i think this is more serious that the masturbation with videos and photos.
Is a good image for China that the foreigners come here and the some people, trying to do bussines, offers them -escorts-??? I think not

Prostitution is the world's oldest profession and thrives in every country, even in some of those backwards conservative cesspools in the Middle East.

I say tax and regulate the industry. Everyone wins.

Now if you excuse me, my back is killing me and I'm going to go grab a quick massage.

Don't take me wrong, I totally agree with u guys, I was just trying to state the fact that the market exists here, and it's HUGE, so I'm not surprised that some people are willing to take the risk for money. That makes fighting this issue really hard, kinda like drugs~~~
And trust me I'm not proud at all when foreign friends ask me why they are offered "escorts" all the time. Most of the time I don't even know what to tell them. so. I think you understand me now...

What a convenient after-the-fact excuse for getting shitty grades in high school. "Uh, it must have been the porn!" Really? Are you sure? It's not the fact that you're not that smart or disciplined and can't be bothered to take responsibility for your own actions? Now it's easy to get out of trouble: just blame porn! What a bunch of slackers.

Actually, I guess he's a genius. He gets a free excuse for the fact that he didn't want to do his homework, and now he's got 10,000rmb free on top of that. Just for continuing to look at the porn that he's already looking at anyway. Brilliant.

@Candy Q, do you actually think I'm serious?

@Adolfo, Thorstan, Peter, and Candy Q again, the reason the party is undergoing the so-called "anti-pornography" movement isn't really to clear up the porn sites, but rather use it as a cover to clear up the "politically incorrect" sites. It's basically the same with the green dam which I'm sure you've heard. Censorship is too strong a word and it doesn't really sound good, but "anti-pornography" on the other hand sounds a lot better :)

    @David, seriously...?

@Pete, "I say tax and regulate the industry. Everyone wins." Agreed. Prostitution should be made legal. And what kind of "massage" are we talking about here? =P

Barney: [To Ted] Do you have some puritanical hang up on prostitution? Dude, it’s the world’s oldest profession.
Marshall: Do you really think that’s true?
Barney: Oh yeah, I bet even Cro-Magnons used to give cave hookers an extra fish for putting out.
Marshall: Ah ha, so the oldest profession would be fishermen. Kaboom! You’ve been lawyered!
