This article is hilarious.  Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, is under investigation for sex crimes in Sweden, and there's an interpol arrest warrant out for him around the world.  However, it seems that he has been traveling to several countries around Europe and the Middle East recently without actually getting arrested.  This article might help explain why other countries are not acting on the warrant.  The charges sound more than a little ridiculous:

'Sex by Surprise' at Heart of Assange Criminal Probe

(Dec. 2) -- The international manhunt for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in a sex-crime investigation in Sweden apparently stems from a condom malfunction.

Assange's London attorney, Mark Stephens, told AOL News today that Swedish prosecutors told him that Assange is wanted not for allegations of rape, as previously reported, but for something called "sex by surprise," which he said involves a fine of 5,000 kronor or about $715.

I never heard of sex by surprise b4, may be in the dream. It's a mere conspiration to stop much revelation this guy can offer to the world.

"Surprise sex" is a playful euphmism for... rape. Yeah. That's an unfortunate translation.

I want to like this guy because I like what WikiLeaks does, and it's certainly not rape if two women had consesual sex without condoms and only decided to file charges after learning of one another's existence and mutual social connections to the phallus of a public figure.

But on a personal level, the guy's still a complete fucking douchebag.

Asuka, have you ever actually slept with a computer nerd? It stops being surprising after the third or fourth iteration, let alone 1000.

Surprise sex, secret love or whatever they're calling it these days, it won't be long before the UK police 'have a chat' with him about it.

Asynodia? Erectile dysfunction? Nerds? You do realize that priapismic geeks and their constant hunger for hardcore pornography were responsible for the push toward broadband Internet, don't you?

Fabulous irony: you admitted to fantasizing about repeated dickings from a divorced silver-haired ex-hacker. Quite the image of virility, that chap.

I still wonder why you folks still suport this Julian Assange of a guy. How much has he gained since he started licking (leaking) these so called facts? Why he waited for such a long time before making these documents known to the public What does he want to achieve now? I just feel he's going too far. Some body watch him --ooo

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Officers from the Metropolitan Police Extradition Unit have this morning arrested Julian Assange on behalf of the Swedish authorities on suspicion of rape.

"Julian Assange, 39, was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant by appointment at a London police station at 9.30am.

"He is accused by the Swedish authorities of one count of unlawful coercion, two counts of sexual molestation and one count of rape, all alleged to have been committed in August 2010.

"Assange is due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court today."

No shit. Now I know you're high. You forgot how this conversation started.

And do you think you could write even a single post without awkwardly dropping a name, however irrelevant to the discussion it may be? You're like an undergrad retaking a Freshman composition course, eager to prove she set the margins correctly on her typewriter.

With a little bit of weeaboo on the side.

Besides, the way he wove classical mythology into so many of his papers, Freud would be at home painting his wargaming miniatures on a Friday night and spilling knuckle babies over shitty fanfics. SO RONERY.

Oh. My bad. I thought you were merely hilarious by accident. Pardon me for not paying sufficient respect to your gelivable deep-cover irony. I didn't realize that you were merely acting like a caricature of a poseur hipster who tucks Cliff's Notes into her shonen-ai hentai manga.

Ethan, that article actually is hilarious, but I think mostly because of the comments made by Assange's lawyer. "We don't even know what 'sex by surprise' even means, and they haven't told us," "Whatever 'sex by surprise' is, it's only a offense in Sweden -- not in the U.K. or the U.S. or even Ibiza,"

I'm sorry, but isn't this claim a little rediculous? "I don't know what this crime is, but I know it's not considered a crime anywhere else. Also, I know he didn't do it, even though I have no idea what it is."

Also, if a woman says "don't bang me without a rubber," and then someone bangs her without a rubber, isn't that called "rape" everywhere but Sweden?

"[Assange] may have just run afoul of Sweden's unusual rape laws, which are considered pro-feminist because of the consideration given issues of consent when it comes to sexual activity -- including even the issue of whether a condom was used."

What the fuck is unusual about considering consent in a rape case?

Now don't get me wrong, while I do think Assange is a douche, I strongly support Wikileaks. Also, I don't think "sex by surprise" should be a crime anywhere near the scale of violent rape, especially given how difficult it may be to discern "stop" (keep going) from "STOP" (I would stab you through the eye if I only had a knife) in the heat of passion. If the girls weren't afraid he would hurt them, made no attempt to stop him (screaming, scratching eyes etc.), and were perfectly fine being around him the next day, that's just not rape. Dando, I see you trolling. Anyway, I think the guy should pay his fine though. And maybe get kicked in the nuts.

Sex by surprise = Forced sex.

I heard from many girls that they're actually into men being forceful. Hell, I even had a friend who told me one of her fantasies is getting raped by a stranger!

Anyways, nobody gets wanted internationally for having forceful sex without a condom! To me it sounds more like they were digging for shit to put him behind bars, and this was all they found...

    Y SO SRS?

Crazy bitches with "rape" fantasies are still going to tell their partners when, where, and how they want to be "raped". That doesn't sound very rapetastic to me at all.

I should also mention that the article I posted comes from, ahem, AOL News.  The next article said "Click here to read about 10 ways to survive shocking airplane crashes involving baby pandas while guessing which starlet is carrying the Pope's gay love child!"

So perhaps its not surprising that the author took a less-than-professional tone, didn't exactly do any follow-up work, aimed for amusement over balance, and didn't use flawless logic in her arguments.

Still though, "Sex by Surprise" is a great term.

On the public broadcast news here in the states tonight they were still referring to it as rape, so I guess no one gave them any sex by surprise this morning. For years I hoped my girlfriend would wake me up with sex by surprise, but it never happened...
