You said "no one want a serious relationship and then sex after get married", for some idiots like myself, it could be read as "no one want a serious relationship and then sex ... after getting married" ... just a smart-ass remark, heehee ...

My stupid question is, now should any guy come to tell you that he is Christian (true or otherwise), whether it was because he had read this thread or he is someone outside WLIB, do you really believe "sex" is not on his mind, but only marriage?

If this is 30 years ago, I would say you have not met the right person, but then, we did not have PC then, nor iPod, nor iPad etc, and terrible sex education ...

Many girls have complained about guys (foreign or otherwise), because they have been cheated by false pretence of "serious relationships", and then these guys left after getting "sex" ...

I can see your "pain", but you might want to re-think your "strategy" ...

Funny, I was talking to this Chinese gal last night about traditional perspectives on sex/dating, and a lot of the stuff she said reminded me of some of the super-traditional Christians I knew back in the States. I feel like people with those beliefs are almost pariahs in the West at this point, but here, those beliefs are the norm.

Let me try to guess what might have happened ...

After 3 BF's, i.e. 3 heartbreaks, and/or other disappointments, you (Wenjing) decided that a religion might be the way to go, but now you have reached a point that you have firm belief in the religion, so you are using it as a guideline for your life, and you want to use it as a backbone (or standard, or a "must have") to find a man in your life ... does that sound about right?

Having a religious belief is a responsibility, both to oneself and to the people around him/her, but it is not a "legal" one, it is more like a self-discipline ... and if one has firm belief in the religion, and the responsibility, the "security" comes with it, as a self-assurance ...

are you serious? what the fuck do you think religion is for? Ever heard of the seven deadly sins? one of them is called "lust." the major religions make sex a serious business, and all unaminously say, 'deny your lust.' the thinking is if left unchecked, wild lust will turn the world into a dangerous orgy of predation and exploitation, disease and death. Look at the LZ, Wenjing. religion is often a reaction to the "terrible feeling" of sex without meaning.

  • Petter Meisfjordskar

Why i laughed was that i failed to relate finding a "Christian boy friend to everyone want sex" Matters of the Bible are complicated especially about such things.

    @ Rose,

You seem quite comfortable with the Bible. But i tell you this, do you know that the Bible condemns adultery at the same time most prominent people in the same Bible committed adultery?  1 Abraham with the house girl. This was even accepted by God. 2 King David killed Uriah's wife, but is one of the most praised. King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines, but he is the wisest man that ever lived. In this, i am trying to show you that what we read in the old testament can be different from the new testament. This is a contradictory book, and Christianity is really a complicated religion. Christian sects are more than 2 lady. I am not saying that we should have sex before marriage, but it should come from the heart of the person, that is if you believe it works out. Otherwise, even if you are a girl, how would you feel to get married to a man and later learn he is impotent and never salutes, or he is actually a bore?

Many Christians today have sex before marriage but this is contrary to the Bible teaching. But one thing is that even so many traditions condemn the act of having sex before marriage. So it is a matter of getting the right person, otherwise, i see someone coming to you from here with a pretext of being a Christian and he ends up chewing you awaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy.

For instance, if you think 'God's standards don't change with time and the Bible is not contradictory anyone who disobey God will be punished we should not to have sin ', does that mean you think most people in China will be/are being punished for working on the Sabbath? Or that unruly children everywhere should be put to death(Exodus is fantastic for stuff like this).

What is the meaning of "adultery" in English versions of the bible? In the English language, adultery means for a married person to have consentual sex with a person he/she is not married to.

If the bible's original meaning is actually "you shall not have sex with anyone until you are married, and once being married you shall not commit adultry", instead of "you shall not commit adultry," then why isn't that the way that it's written? Poor translators? Or maybe everyone of sexual maturity would already be married, so there was no possibility of doing it before marriage?

  • Petter Meisfjordskar

    @Rose,

well said, but do not just read at the surface. So many things there are contradictory. Committing adultery is bad and God has punished such people greatly. Why did Jesus refuse the people to beat the woman who had committed adultery? You say King David is not praised yet it is even profecized that the savior would come from his line. Why get a savior from a wicked line? I want to assure you, that the most sought for book in the Bible is ecselesiastics, which was written by King Solomon. I want you to understand that what is written in the old testament is different from what is required of us at times in the new testament.

It is amazing, but i have a Chinese friend, and recently she told me that some Christian churches here have separate mass for Chinese and foreigners. If i am a Chinese and know English or a foreigner and know Chinese, why refuse me enter. She said they ask for identification and because she has an Australian passport, she would go with me to the mass for foreigners. I clearly told her i can not go to such a church because God does not segregate among his people and i told her this is a wicked church.

You seem to be great with the Bible, just tell me, when Cain killed Abel, God put a mark on Cain and told him that where ever he will go in the wilderness, no one will touch him. Does this mean there where other people on earth other than these three now? And there after the Bible says, and Cain got a wife and they gave birth to so and so.... Where did he get this wife. I am just trying to show you that many times we fail to go deep into the Bible and analyze things. I am a Christian and believe in God, but i am doudtful of the ways we are offered to have faith. That is why so many sects are cropping up, because each can make its own translation of the Bible. My principle has always been, " Do what society expects of you" This sums up all that is written in the Bible.

The ten commandments are just corrupted from our traditional laws. Even a traditionalist know that stealing, committing adultery, fornication, are bad things, and they know that we should respect our parents. Our traditional laws state clearly that no one shall kill another. When you sum all this, you will find that the Bible simply adds spice, but gets all the laws from our tradition and culture in all societies.

It is really amazing that this Christian lady can not find a Christian man from the church she goes to. What does that mean? I am worried she is going to get all sorts of great or fake answers from us here. Though she sounds serious, here is a lot of human beings that enjoy making fun of everything. Christianity or not, what she wants will depend on the person but not belief.

If there is a disease, what is the best way of curing? Is it vaccination or waiting to catch the disease and then get medication? I think the men should not be punished for being lustful. Women should be punished for wearing those very short skirts that barely cover the forbidden fruit because they are the ones that cause this. In this way, we shall have got the vaccination well before we catch the disease. What do you think?

  • Petter Meisfjordskar
It seems now that the Bible issues have taken root. In the Bible, there is a misinterpretation of the word "fornication". I want us to understand that what is written in this Holy book also relates to the culture and tradition of the people of the areas talked about in the Bible. The word that is referred to is " Porneia" which was meant to mean money sex. The word " fornication" is derived from a Latin word "Fornix" which meant the place prostitutes go and sell themselves. This was legal and acceptable. I want us to not that among some cultures like the Hebrews during those days, it was punishable not to have children, that is why concubines were hugely accepted. St Paul has been mistaken to have talked about the kind of fornication that we talk about here. His condemnation is the fornication that existed where prostitutes were bought, but not the one that really involves true love among the fornicators. I want the threader to know that the Bible never talks about marriage, but talks about God binding to people together. This does not mean marriage at all. The sexual act before this official system of being with the person as wife is sen as a more binding bond between the two that can lead to being together. The Bible goes ahead and tell us that when we have sex with even the prostitutes, we are bound together with them as marriage. 1 Corinthians 6:15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! (16) Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” The only thing is that sex should be looked at as a symbol of life long commitment between the two, but not as a thing that should come after marriage, which marriage is never even talked about in the Bible. God saw this need of the bond and showed it to Adam and Eve. Were they married? Tell me. I thus make for you a quotation about Adam and Eve from a philosophical analysis of the Bible. "This critical piece fits the jigsaw. Adam and Eve experienced this special union, and yet there would have been virtually no similarity between their ‘wedding’ and modern Western weddings or legal arrangements. What God saw as binding was the act of intercourse itself. If we are to have God’s attitude, the act of sex should therefore be as binding as marriage and should be associated with lifelong commitment. This, too, fits what we saw in the Old Testament, that an unmarried man who seduces an unmarried girl is compelled by law to marry her. If there is doubt that she consented to the act, the woman has the right of refusal, but because he initiated sexual union the man loses all rights to choose independence. He is bound to her through a single sexual act." Hope our holy Rose is in the house.

  • Petter Meisfjordskar
The Bible does not condemn pre-marital sex. What is condemned is the act of forceful sex and the prostitution that existed among the prostitutes. Many Hebrews went to the temple of Venus was the principal Deity of Corinth, where prostitutes were bought and it was believed that it was a sacred thing to have sex with these women. All sexual acts that you can think of today were done in this temple. So ST Paul condemned this act of paid sex and that people were worshiping Venus but not God. He advocated for bachelorhood because he thought it gave people time to serve God. I want us to know that God's first commandment was to Adam and Eve. He told them, " Go, produce and fill the world." That is why it was punishable not to have children among the Hebrews. Believe you me, the moment you die without a kid, no heaven for you.
  • Petter Meisfjordskar
@ Rose, I do not have you to blame for the wearing. God knows how the human heart is weak. We only try to be strong. If Eve at that time was so pure, but was tempted by Saturn, then why not us. This is a curse that was passed on to us. Jesus himself would not have followed Saturn from the tall building to the city because he knew very well who he was, nor should he have listened to him at all because he new he was the devil. We only have to repent, and try to avoid doing wrong as much as possible. Have you ever read Lucifer's files?
  • Petter Meisfjordskar

@ Rose, now that book is not related to the Bible and Christianity. Not so? We then come up with the problems as a society and avoid pre-marital sex.

The difference in the celebration of the Sabbath is because we have different calenders madam, and a difference in the change of time. And all that clearly gives you a conclusion that we understand the Bible differently.  If the Bible was not  contradictory at the beginning, all this would not be. It has two creation stories that have confused scholars and are still a myth. Genesis 1:25-27 and Genesis 2:18-19.

Rose and Wenjing ... and anyone else with similar views ... it is admirable that you girls use your religion as your guide and standard (if I may say that), and there is nothing wrong with that, but you must realise that no matter how much faith you have, the Bible itself was written in an era when people (and their lives) were less complex, and had little chance to be exposed to evil-ness ... however, in this day and age, people are "tested" everyday, money, power, bodily pleasure (including chocolate, oh yummy) etc ... some will succumb while some will remain strong, but those who succumbed might not necessarily be bad ...

So, like I had said to Wenjing before, it is a good idea to use religion scripts to guide yourself, but try to be more flexible and more "modernised" ... and try to see things from the 2010 point of view, not from 2000 years ago ...
