You know, the two hours I thought "man this doesn't hurt that much at all!" Then by hour 5, when he really started to get down into the details and going over the areas we already did with different colors and such... holy shit, it hurt like a bitch! haha

I'd say the price was pretty fair. The total cost to me was about $375 of computer equipment and he did about 8 hours of work for me plus probably 2 or 3 more to finish it, and another 2 for my friend for a smaller tattoo of a flower and some text.

It is my first... ambitious project to do a freaking 6 or 7 hour long custom tattoo as a first huh? I already have an idea for #2....... but still gotta go back next week to finish this one up.

@da chuan... well, I'm actually also a race track instructor so I think I can comment on this. It varies widely on the person. Unlike other sports, racing also introduces the element of crashing and getting seriously injured for making minor mistakes. Some people prefer to play it safe and take a while to progress since they don't want to push past the line. Others accept the danger more and crash more, but also get faster much quicker. It took me several years to get to the point where I could do amateur racing competitively, but I've seen guys do it in just months. Reflexes have little to do with this sport... it's all about being smooth, precise and controlled.

Yeah Summer, the colors hurt quite a bit. It's on the left arm... some of the pics I shot from a mirror so it looks reversed.

I gotta say, after I took a shower last night and looked at it wet... holy shit! The colors are so much nicer than they look in that photo... the water + washing away all the blood and plasma on the surface really brightened it up. It should continue to improve for the next few days... I'll try to get a few more good pics under better lighting

to get a piercing though, not a tattoo. All I can say is that at least it looks clean and professional, unlike many places I visited before.

    Ah, okay.

I can't speak for piercings -- I'm done poking holes in my body -- but if anyone is looking to get tattoo work done here in Beijing, go by recommendations given by people who've had work done.

When bringing up the issue with my heavily-inked buddies, the same names kept coming up again and again.

Cleanliness is just one factor. Others include cost per hour, post-care availibility, attention to detail and experience.

Hook it up Pete. I'm already thinking about the 2nd one. It will be a lot more generic though... This, on my lower leg:

Either I do that in the US before I leave, which I'm highly disinclined to do as getting two really detailed tattoos in a month is just too much, or I'll do it sometime next year maybe in which case I'd be in Beijing. I'm assuming the price will be cheaper too (this dude billed $600 for the motorcycle tattoo, approx 8 or 9 hours of work at $75 an hour, but like I said I gave him nice laptop that I only had to pay $375 for so it worked out better)

No, prices in Beijing aren't necessarily cheaper.

  • Marte Joahansen

it depends on the materials used...provided they are sterile, it would

    not cause allergies.
