Yes the gloomy one has officially appeared on the world's best radio station (BBC Radio 4), Desert Island Discs no less.

Sure enough he is as spiky and awkward as ever and his musings are bound to divide. I thought it was an entertaining interview, but thousands will despise it.

Most people go in for demonstrating their musical knowldege and range but he went for a fairly narrow range of 70s new wave punk. As follows:

1 New York Dolls (There's Gonna Be Be A) Showdown

2 Marianne Faithful Come and Stay with Me

    3 Ramones Loudmouth

4 Velvet Underground The Black Angel's Death Song

    5 Klaus Nomi Der Nussbaum

    6 Nico I'm Not Saying

7 Iggy and the Stooges Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell

8 Mott the Hoople Sea Diver

    Here's the link.

This post is officially the geekiest thing I have ever done (ish).

All of those are great songs. The man has good taste.

Now would be a good time to remind everyone of the clip of Mr. Optimism getting nailed in the head by a bottle at a show earlier this month.

I think with Morrissey one ought just simply worship him (like Freddie Mercury).

Peter, Arthur Cane seems to be your mirror image. I hear he's a vigorously heterosexual these days....
