BEIJING, JUNE 2 - Good news for Beijing residents who love singing and dancing R&B superstars:

We've just been authorized to tell you that American recording artist Usher will perform live for the first time here in the capital city on Sun, July 11 at Beijing's Wukesong Arena.

Oh. My. Gosh.

Beijingers are undoubtedly familiar with his signature anthems "Yeah!" and "My Boo," both of which have remained in permanent rotation in this city's nightclubs for years.

Usher, 31, has been ranked by the RIAA as one of the best-selling artists in history, with over 45 million records sold worldwide since his debut LP "My Way" was released in 1997.

The release of his fourth studio effort "Confessions" in 2004 cemented his position as an entertainment icon, with a flood of opinion-shapers deeming him as the heir apparent to Michael Jackson's throne for his soulful, hip hop-spiked anthems accompanied by an amazing flair for footwork.

Countless other accolades and distinctions have since followed, including a coronation by music industry trade magazine Billboard as the "Top Hot 100 Artist of the Decade" as a result of his constant position at the top of the charts.

The Texas-native's sixth full-length effort, "Raymond v. Raymond," was released this past March and sold 320,000 units in its first week despite its mixed critical reception and an ongoing slump in the record industry.

We're sure that all of you have heard his latest single "OMG," the auto-tuned club banger featuring Black Eyed Peas rapper that has been reverberating throughout the planet and is currently occupying the top spot on Billboard's Top 100, as well as the playlists of most Beijing clubs.

And we know you adore him, too!

You've watched the "OMG" video on Youku over 40,000 times so far and can't stop searching for him on Baidu, so admit it:

You're as excited as a kid on Spring Festival Eve at what's shaping up to be the premier pop music event of the summertime concert season.

Tickets for this event go on sale on Mon, June 7 at and likely through our WLIB Ticket Delivery Service, where we will deliver them directly to your door with a minimum of mafan.

We'll keep you posted on updates as we receive them -- including additional ticketing, support and venue information -- as well as a chance to win some free tickets from the friendly WLIB team.
