Hanggai: Since the release of their debut LP Introducing Hanggai last year, this Beijing-based sextet has received international attention -- from Pitchfork Media to the Guardian -- for their Mongolian revivalist folk anthems characterized by traditional instrumentation and throat singing.

K Jell: Kickoff date for the Norwegian pop punk act's two-week China tour in which they'd like to sell 15,000 copies of their debut record along the way. The complete tour itinerary, featuring stops in Qingdao, Tianjin and Shanghai, can be viewed here. Beijing scene staples SUBS will support with their ferocious brand of emotive rock.

A Guy Called Gerald: The UK dance guru with three decades of experience under his belt touches down in Beijing for the first time. You probably weren't yet born when his 1988 single "Voodoo Ray" peaked at #12 on the UK Singles chart, but his early work with the Roland TR-808 drum machine remains heavily influential to this day. QINGMING METAL FESTIVAL: There's no better way to celebrate the arrival of spring then with metal acts Tearing Sepsis, Tyrant's Rage, White Nothingness, Distorted and Anopheles at this windowless Wudaokou haven. (There's a joke about tomb sweeping and dead ancestors in here somewhere, but...)

BEIJING CALLING: Pay homage to the late rock icon Kurt Cobain, with DJs BB, Carlo and Ed spinning choice cuts of grunge.

Joyside: Beijing's rock godfathers return after a six-month hiatus, with laconic trio Casino Demon and the Gar adding support to a boozy night certain to enter the annals of this city's rock and roll history books.

QINGMING HIP-HOP PARTY: CMCB, Big Homes, Longjin and Chinatown Scene set to add a breezy touch to the holiday with everything from hip-hop to reggae.

Recloose: The eclectic producer brings his amalgamation of sounds (Latin, house, soul and hip-hop) to Beijing as part of this country's participation in the Gilles Peterson Worldwide Festival Sessions. Born in the States, Recloose relocated to New Zealand where his third LP, Perfect Timing, took home a Tui Award for 2008's Best Electronica/Dance album. See feature for more information.

Nick Hoeppner: The producer, DJ, label head (Ostgut Tontrager), party organizer (Berlin's MyMyseries) and former editor of Groove magazine set to showcase his numerous skills.

KURT COBAIN REMEMBRANCE CONCERT: Pork, Meat Tree and others set to pay homage to the late Nirvana frontman, 15 years after he permanently checked out to join the 27 Club.

DRAGON SHOUT HEAVY METAL MUSIC FESTIVAL 2009: In preparation for Monday's arrival of UK power metal band DragonForce to Beijing, China's top metal bands unite under one roof for a night of evil Sunday night whiplash. Narakam, Institutional Crush, Die From Sorrow (郁), Ego Fall (颠覆M), The Last Successor, Frost Eve (霜冻前夜) and Dengel will perform.
