A Show on my very first ‘home’ in Beijing

A Show on my very first ‘home’ in Beijing Unlike other IDs, no need for an interview or any kind of approvals, the second I stepped on the land of Beijing I’m automatically qualified for an official North Drifter. Then here, 9ibooks, became my very first ‘home’ in Beijing. I don’t have any family or good friend in Beijing. Only a few unfamiliar old schoolmates are scattered all around Beijing. (I mean Beijing is HUGE. So I’m not exaggerating when I say ‘scattered all around’. At least I think this way.) 9ibooks is where I work. It‘s sitting in a villa complex located between the east 4th and 5th ring roads. It is a nice neighborhood with a lovely environment designed in American style. Every house has a beautiful garden decorated with delicate plants. Working in such a paradise like this gives you a peaceful mind and happy mood all day.
However, when I first came here and found out where I was going to work, I had to say I was a little hesitating, because it did seem to me quite unusual and unofficial. But once I walked inside I suddenly understand why they picked this place for the company and I started to agree with them. It’s a perfect match inside out! This is the door of our ‘home’. I always find the colour of the sign of 9i a little strange. I don’t know why they chose such a combination of colour-green, yellow and orange. But I heard that it was already a registered trademark so it can’t be changed again. As walking through the door the most impulsive impression is the colours, - what pour into your eyes is pure white and sharp fluorescence green everywhere. I love green. So this might be the reason why I chose to work here in the first place. Here all of our staff have our own laptops supplied with wireless connection, which is super convenient. Everything stays in line with our modern and fashionable working environment, proudly said by me!

This is a corner of my ‘home’ down the hall on the ground floor. Now you can see we sell books! We deal with imported original English books. Now that sounds a little more special huh? This should be the most important reason why I like here, because I can read lots of books! Our company provided a special space for sample books where we could read freely. Of course anyone can buy if they wish and we are offered with discounts, too. Though the samples are only a selection of our entire collection that we have access to, it’s still pretty cool to always catch up with the latest best sellings. This is what I’m reading at the moment, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Its translated Chinese name is 《小屁孩日记》. It’s a very interesting book. Though it’s designed for kids it’s still brings me loads of fun reading it. Lol~~

Continue to visit my ‘home’ eh! Must upload some pics for ya~

I really like simple and sleek feel of my ‘home’. Every detail of it is worth of appreciating. Six coffee table in our lounge are creatively laid out in all different directions so it looks like a modern artistic sculpture. It’s pretty cool huh!

Actually we are not a foreign company. But maybe because of what we do everything in our company is written in English, such as labels, boards and signs etc. Even on the doors of the toilets have boards with English idioms and proverbs written on them, and one of our colleagues is responsible for updating them a coupla times a week. This is the office of our department. It’s on the second floor. Well, don’t get me wrong, we do have GUYS on our team but they just happened to be working downstairs. Haha~~ we are not a Red Detachment of Women. We don’t work in the conventional pigeon case styled set up like in other office buildings. This is much more free and relaxing office layout, though it could get easily messed up by us. You can often find all kinds of mugs, pens, books, wallets, lip balms and so on, like a night market. The reason that it looks better than I described is because we just had a big tidy-up before a recent training we had. Lol~~ After a big exhibition of my 8-hour working environment, let me show you a secretive space in my ‘home’! Due to the need of some working requirements, some of us live here. I’m one of them. So that makes me live in a VILLA, which means I’m totally an upper class! Staff dormitory is an independent area separated from the rest on the third floor. My bed is on the top. It’s a bit messy…hehe~ Oh well, this is my Beijing ‘home’, a home of 24 hours. How is it? Not too bad huh! The most important thing is, this place makes me feel like at home. That’s because everyone at 9ibooks is sooo nice. We are like a family here. It’s a clean pure place that makes you comfortable. I told my parents back home about it. They are very happy that I’m happy and well looked after so they never have to worry about me at all. I really love here. Here , is my home.
